Weld Studs
At Taylor Studwelding we stock a range of weld studs and fasteners for capacitor discharge (CD) and drawn arc (DA) stud welding processes. We have also created various accessories to facilitate CD, DA, and Short Cycle (SC) welding applications. We use the highest quality materials and stringent testing processes to ensure we only deliver the best quality stud welding products to clients across the manufacturing and engineering industries and beyond.
Find the right type of weld stud for your operation with many sizes, types, and materials of stud available in our purpose-built factory complex. We have over 10,000,000 items in stock at any given time. We can also custom-make weld studs and other fasteners according to your requirements.
CD Weld Studs
Our industry-leading CD studs are available in a range of sizes, materials, and types, allowing for diverse applications across manufacturing, industrial, and engineering sectors. Our studs also conform to the industry standard for the manufacture of weld studs EN 13918.
CD Weld Stud Materials
The CD studs we stock come in Mild Steel, 304 Stainless Steel, Aluminium Alloy (Al Mg3), and Lead-Free Brass materials. Each stud material has different levels of weldability with different parent materials. This includes steel and coated/zintec/hot rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminium and alloys, brass, and copper (we cover this in detail in the downloadable technical information PDF).
Mild Steel studs are finished in a copper coat for electrical continuity and rust protection, other finishes are available upon request. Stainless steel studs are also available in 316 grade material upon request.
CD Stud Types
The studs are available in threaded, unthreaded, and internally threaded forms. All these stud types can come in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloy, and brass.
CD Stud Sizes
Diameters for our CD weld studs range from M3 to M10 for mild and stainless steel threaded studs (M10 manufactured to order) and M3 to M8 for threaded aluminium alloy, and brass studs. Unthreaded studs are available from 3mm to 6mm diameter for all materials. Internally threaded studs range from M3 to M5 diameter for mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium alloy.
Each diameter of stud also has multiple length options, ranging from 6mm to 50mm for threaded studs, 6mm to 50mm for unthreaded studs, and 8mm to 40mm for internally threaded studs.
Other Capacitor Discharge Fasteners
In addition to CD studs, we also have a range of tapped bosses, insulation nails, speedfix washers, plain pins, cup head pins, earth tags, and brackets for a range of manufacturing operations.
CD Assessories
We have also created a range of key capacitor discharge stud welding accessories to facilitate a range of CD operations, which fit perfectly with the studs and fasteners we create. These include:
Drawn Weld Studs
We also stock a wide range of weld studs for the drawn arc process. The main DA weld studs we provide include threaded, unthreaded, and tapped types.
DA Stud Materials
Drawn Arc welding studs come in several materials. Mild steel and 304 stainless steel are the most common, with mild steel studs coming with either a self-colour or zinc plated finishes.
Other materials are available upon request, including 310 & 316 Stainless and ALMg5 aluminium alloy (SC welding only), and Inconel. Alternate finishes include Nickel, Galvanised and Copper plated.
DA Stud Sizes
Threaded studs are available in M6, M8, M10, M12, and M16 diameters. Lengths range from 16-100mm (mild steel and stainless steel). Unless stated otherwise, all threaded studs are reduced base (Type RD).
Unthreaded studs are available in 6-20mm diameter with up to 100mm in length. Unthreaded studs are full base (Type UD) unless a smaller base is needed due to clearance issues. If this is the case, please contact our sales team for further information.
Tapped studs come in M5, M6, M8, M10, and M12 diameters as standard with increasing lengths for each diameter, all internal threaded studs are full base (Type ID). We can also provide threaded studs with a broader base (Type PD) and concrete anchors (Type SD), also called shear connectors, upon request.
Short Cycle Studs
We have specialist weld studs for the short cycle stud welding process, coming in an M5 diameter with multiple lengths available from 10-30mm.
Specialist Weld Studs and Accessories
Our specialist drawn arc studs include anti-abrasion studs, plain and threaded collar studs, insulation pins, insultwist/twistlock pins, rectangular studs, refractory Y-anchor fastenings, stepped studs, locking studs, cone studs, flat-ended studs, boiler studs, curved studs, J-bolt studs, and bent studs as well as several others. If you have a specific requirement please contact our sales team, who have extensive experience amongst all applications for Studwelding.
